We decided to take a little mini-trip for our spring break. We found great deals for hotels, and got there and back on a tank and a half of gas - some of the things we did were more expensive than we would have liked, and some weren't worth it at all....but overall we had a very inexpensive and fun vacation!

We left Thursday after I got off work, and were in Niagara Falls, Ontario by dinnertime. We checked in at our hotel and the concierge recommended a great little local place for dinner, where we had pizza. It was good - (should have ordered the larges instead of the mediums.)

We drove by the falls several times, and later at night they were lit up and it was beautiful. Unfortunately, the camera was in my computer bag while we were at the lit-up falls. Poor planning on my part. It was also coooollllllld. When I had looked at the forecast a few days before, it had said it would be in the 40s and 50s. Not ideal, but do-able. Turns out, the highest temps we saw in Niagara Falls were in the 30s.

Dee and the girls went swimming that night while I looked up things to do online. Unfortunately, we were a day early for the Maid of the Mist. I decided that Cave of the Winds would be fun....but it ended up being just way too cold for that. So, Friday morning we got up and took some pics from the Canada side, and then went into New York to see the falls from there. We spent some time in Niagara Falls state park and that looks likes a fun place in better weather.

Our big waste of money was this "4-D" movie at a little theatre there in Niagara Falls, NY. It was so cold, we thought a 4D movie would be great. Turns out, it was pretty lame - and nearly $50 for the family. It is about 15 minutes long, no kidding. The 4th dimension comes in when a little mist blows on you a couple of times when the camera pans over the falls in the movie, and some fans when the wind blows through the trees. Seriously, we've seen much cooler effects for much less money at places like Hershey's. Oh well, live and learn! Do not go see that dumb movie!

After sufficiently freezing and getting some cool photos, and learning what we'd like to do (and not do) next time, we headed to Toronto for the next leg of our trip.
