The kids have found a wonderful pasttime while they visit grandma: Catching and "salting" snails. Last night they salted a bunch on the back porch and drew arrows to where all the remains were. Last night my sister Bonnie and her three youngest kids came, and her little Katie REALLY gets into it. Her quote this morning was, "These snails have to pay for they've done!" It's quite diabolic the pleasure they take in this activity. Gross stuff.

LOL! How do you salt a snail? Is it literally salt? GROSS!! I just use snail & slug pellets in my flower & garden beds.
Oh, but pellets would be the obvious, humane solution! We like to torture our snails here! My dad usually just throws them into the road when he finds them, but these little girls like to watch them melt. Yeah, you should try it sometime! Just wait until they poke out their heads, and then salt them like you would your food and watch them sizzle away and melt into green slime. Truly disgusting. But as Katie says, they have to PAY for what they've done, lol!
If you think that's disgusting you should check out my newest post!! Glad you are having fun. Doug looked sad and lost without anybody to be a Dad to. CUTE hair. It looks great!
Amy :o)
I used to salt snails when I was little. It's the simple things in life that bring the most pleasure, right?!
Hey Briane, welcome! I'm glad someone else has heard of this mighty fun practice! It really kept the kids entertained for hours.
