New Orleans

Tuesday we took our visitors to New Orleans for the day. Unfortunately, Ashlyn wasn't feeling well and held the Doug/John/LaRene group up a bit. We all still had a good time, though.
Our first stop was Cafe Dumonde, for beignets of course. My girls absolutely cannot even get within 5 miles of the French Quarter without begging for them! So there are a few photos there.
Our next stop was the Mardi Gras museum at the Presbytere, where we had not been before. What a fun place!
Then we split up and Doug/John/LaRene/Ashlyn went to the Napolean exhibit and the Old US Mint. They really enjoyed it despite Ashlyn not feeling well, although they did cut their stay short and almost returned home - but then Ashlyn started feeling a little better so they stayed and met up with us for dinner.
Mom/Morgan/Elise and I went on a Garden District Ghost tour. We enjoyed it, but not as much as our Garden District Tour last year. It really wasn't very scary, but it was interesting. There are some beautiful homes there and that in and of itself was fun. We did take a couple of pictures there as well, including one with a 12-foot knight.
After our excursions, we met up with the other group for dinner at Superior Grill. Dinner was excellent and we had a great day! Then home to get the travellers ready for the next day. I ran the Gardners to the airport in the morning and then had a catch-up day for shopping and laundry before Doug and I took off for our DC trip the next day! In the meantime, Morgan decided to get whatever Ashlyn had, and started throwing up. I feel bad that my mom has to deal with all of that, but we are having fun in DC anyway. Next post is about that!
